The streaming service released a trailer for the docuseries featuring actress and talk show host Jada Pinkett Smith on Wednesday.
Queen Cleopatra is the next part of Smith’s African Queens docuseries, which he narrates and executive produces. Each season delves into the life of a famous and renowned African queen.
Njinga, the 17th-century warrior queen of Ndongo and Matamba, was the focus of Season 1.
Season 2 focuses on Cleopatra, “the world’s most famous, powerful, and misunderstood woman — a daring queen whose beauty and romances came to overshadow her real asset: her intellect.”
“Cleopatra’s ancestry has been the subject of much academic debate, which Hollywood has frequently ignored.” Now, our series revisits this interesting chapter of her life,” according to the official synopsis.
Queen Cleopatra arrives on Netflix on May 10.
Smith, who is married to actor Will Smith, also presents the Red Table chat chat programme on Facebook Watch.
