Mohanlal was born to Vishwanathan Nair, a lawyer, and politician, and Santhakumari, a homemaker. He has two younger brothers, Pyarelal and Mukesh. Mohanlal attended the Model School in Thiruvananthapuram. Later pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram.
