What is Kanya Sumangala Yojana?

Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a special plan by the Uttar Pradesh government to help girls from poor families in the state. It gives money to girls from when they are born until they get married or finish their education.

How does the money come?

Girls get 15,000 rupees in total, but it comes in 6 parts:

1. First, 2,000 rupees right after the baby girl is born.
2. Next, 2,000 rupees when she starts school.
3. Then, 2,000 rupees when she goes to secondary school.
4. After that, 3,000 rupees when she gets to high school.
5. When she goes to college, 5,000 rupees.
6. Finally, when she turns 21, she gets the last part for her marriage or further studies.

Who Can Join Kanya Sumangala Yojana?

Girls born in Uttar Pradesh after April 1, 2019, can join Kanya Sumangala Yojana if their family’s yearly income is less than 3 lakh rupees. Families with two daughters, and even twin girls, can get this help.

To join, you need an Aadhaar card, ration card, income certificate, bank account, residence certificate, mobile number, and a passport-sized photo.

How to Join Online Kanya Sumangala Yojana

1. Go to the official website of Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
2. Find “Citizen Service Portal” on the left side and click it.
3. Log in if you’re registered; if not, sign up.
4. On the next page, click “Citizen Service Portal” again.
5. Fill in the application form and submit it.

How to Join Offline

1. Go to the Women and Child Development Department office.
2. Get an application form there and fill it out.
3. Attach all the needed documents.
4. Submit the form to the same office.
